How good is Tocumen International Airport?

The Tocumen International Airport, in the capital of Panama, was awarded the “Best in Central America and the Caribbean” at the “World Airport Awards 2022”, recognition granted by passengers worldwide. Without a doubt, great recognition for our airport, and a motivation to continue improving!

How can I leave the Tocumen airport paying less than $5 dollars in transportation?

The most kept secret of travellers! Avoid paying $50 for a local taxi or $20+ for an Uber… keep in mind this secret is much easier if you are Panamanian and have carry-on luggage! There are 2 options, depending on when or in what year you are reading this, we recommend you investigate if the Panama Metro line is enabled from the Tocumen Airport (this is in the plans and will be a very cheap and very safe option for all travellers National and international). The second option is to take a Metro Bus from one of the stops in front of Terminal 1 of the Airport, to know the routes, the bus code and their schedules you can use Google Maps! Your ticket will cost less than $2 USD and you can go almost anywhere in Panama City. (If you use the Metro you can pay with your contactless debit or credit cards if you use the Metro Bus you must have a rechargeable card, or you can ask a Panamanian who does have one for help and give them cash for what your ticket will be worth)

What airport should I fly to get to Chiriquí?

If you are in Panama City and you are interested in visiting Chiriquí, the easiest and fastest way to get there is by plane, from Tocumen airport or Marcos Gelabert Albrook airport, this airport will depend on which airline you want to use (Air Panama or Copa Airlines) and it will also influence whether your flight to Chiriquí is a connection or not. The code for the Chiriquí airport is DAV, its acronym refers to the City of David, the capital of this province. There are flights every day of the week and its approximate price is around $100 USD (one way). PRO TIP! Remember that if you are retired (“elderly age” according to Panamenian law) you can receive a great discount on your local flight!
